Writing Narrative

I am learning to write a narrative story.
I'll know I can do this when my stories have:

- Character - Setting - Introduction - Problem - Climax - Conclusion - Descriptive language such as smilies and metaphors - Character speech using speech marks

This is my narrative plan.

This is my narrative. It is about a superhero saving the world .

Something I learnt was similes .
Something I found hard was using a speech marks.

Writing Report

I am learning to writing an information report.

I'll know I can do this when I can plan and write an information reports with a title, topic sentence, and a group of facts about a subject.

Next time I would like to add more facts to make it interesting.

Music

In music with Mr McCullum I have been learning to play the ukulele.

I'll know I've been successful when I hold the ukulele correctly and can strum the cords.

Some thing I found hard was trying to fit my fingers on the cords.

Taiao

In Taiao I have been learning about chickens. I have learned about the parts of a chicken, some facts about chickens, the parts of an egg (which I used to make an omelette), and what a chicken needs to be happy and healthy. Next time I would like to add more information.

Maths Tapawha

I am learning to order fractions with different denominators.

I'll know I can do this when I can Explain and show the order of single fractions with different denominators from smallest to largest value.


Next time I would like to harder franchisers so I can move up.

Reading Papango

I am learning to apply our prior knowledge to a text

I'll know I can do this when I can think of ways I have connections to a text and I can use those connections to help decode unfamiliar words and ideas.

Next time I would like to add more interesting facts.

Learner Qualities

I am learning how to empathise.

I'll know I can do this when I can identify a variety of ways I can communicate with others.

One way I can show how I communicate is by silent hand actions.

Creative Writing -Scripts

We are learning to write scripts to create a play.

We know we are successful if our script has:

- multiple characters

- a setting

- character speech

- stage direction (in a different colour to the speech)

Once we have written our scripts we are creating the plays using Puppet Pals.

Peace week 2017

I have been learning about Peace Week.

Peace Week is an annual tradition organised by The Peace Foundation every year. You can learn more about The Peace Foundation by following this LINK.

As a way to learn about Peace Week I did three different Peace Week activities.

With Miss Brennan we created a poster to help promote peace and Peace Week.

With Mrs Baker we made hand print doves and wrote messages of peace on them.

With Mr Horn we looked at the symbols of peace such as the dove and created origami doves.

Student Led Conference

My highlight at my student led conference was showing my statistics poster because I had my bar graph and picture graph.

I am most proud of sharing my maths questions I got from the teacher because it was challenging.

I think my parents enjoyed race around the clock because we had to race fast to see who wins.

Next time I would like to share everything because I ran out of time.  

Reading

My learning goal this term is order and sequence the ideas in a text.

I can do this by putting events in the story in as they happen.

Statistics

WALHT Display data in bar graph.

I learnt to  get data off a pieces of paper and put the data onto a bar graph.
My next step is to make one space between every bar I make.

Dance

At dance we have been doing salsa and hip hop. I enjoyed hip hop when we did the fingers went over our eyes with the peace sign. I learnt the cross body lead in salsa.

Writing

Here is my poem:

I didn't go to Colombia because I don't know where it is.
I did't go  to the pool because it was cold.
I didn't zoom a million miles.
But i did go fishing at the Groynes.

I didn't eat poisonous berry.
I didn't eat chocolate.
I didn't eat lemons.
But i did eat salmon.

I didn't see Sponge Bob.
I didn't see a submarine
I didn't see a million dollars
But I did see a trout.

Next time I would like to make my second 2 verses more fun by adding more detail.

I have been learning to create an example of onomatopoeia. These are my examples.

Next time I wold like to use more onomatopoeia.

Taiao Programme

I have been learning to be safe in in the kitchen.
We made apple crumble.
I learned that wen you use a knife you have to put the cap back on.
I want to learn how to grate an apple.
I didn't like the apple crumble.

Learning to Send a photo

I am learning to add a photo to my blog from my Google Drive.

Test Post

I am learning to send a post to my blog. 

I enjoved doing Mathletics on my device.

I also enjoy sending my teacher emails and typing stories. It is fun.
